11, 12, 13,....14, 15, 16--Yeah, I'm Behind...

I don't even know what order these should be in...so bear with me...

Brownies made by the sweetest neighbor next door for shoveling her driveway. She's little, she's old, she's Portuguese (and adorable if you have to know) so, yes, these were the BEST BROWNIES EVER!!

My Getting Ready to Paint Mess

Raise your wings if you love Loki!! I do!

We had a crazy rainbow driving home from Providence over the weekend--doesn't it look like the Dome??

This morning' snow piled up on the hydrangeas out front

Okay, I've been finding Wooly Bears EVERYWHERE this winter and this one had a brown (not black) butt and a striped head, though it's hard to tell that from this picture. You'll have to take my word for it. Brown Butt! Striped Head! Coolest Wooly Bear EVER!!

So, I'm what, a week behind? We'll all live. I'll try to do better. Thanks for peeking!

Days 6 & 7/365

The Foggy Fog: rain came and washed away all our snow Monday morning. Sad me...

Tucker peek--how could you not love that face??
Yesterday was a good arting day at long last! I've been working on this little painting of the Neck (that's Sconticut Neck in Fairhaven...) Still needs a few finishing touches, but getting there!

And this is the cover page for my art journal this year that I'll be working in through Joanne Sharpe's Draw Your Awesome Year course--hopefully I'll get to fill it with some beautiful color today!

I loved Lori Vleigen's 2014 so incorporated that into my cover.
Have a warm and cozy Wednesday!! Thanks for popping by!

Day 5/365 For the Birds

Lenny and Loki were just hanging out yesterday, so a couple quick shots of my cuties--Loki is our Green Cheek Conure and Lenny is our Pearl Lutino Cockatiel that I hand raised with our Parrotlet, Squiggy. Lenny is beyond the sweetest bird I have ever known and Loki is a real chatterbox for a Green Cheek--he talks up a storm and loves to make kissy noises (though he's like to give you a good chomp on the lips if you actually try to kiss him!! Serious ouch!!)

January 3--Hercules

Running a little late today--slept in past five, then had to run out for Bug's bowling league this morning. But some quick pics from winter storm Hercules...

Waiting a turn at the feeder

Car buried in drifts

Chilly Green Man

Lone little Junco

Finally dug out

Grackles on the suet

Bugga's Froggie

Dining room view

A bright splash of Cardinal red among brown Sparrows and grey Juncos

Sheltering from the wind behind the front step

Plow to the rescue--only one this year, last year we had three running the roads...seriously short handed crews this year

Supervising the shoveling--this crew is clearly overstaffed...no balance to the madness...

Tucker lovin' the snow

Pea's path through the yard--she pretty much had to tunnel her way through, little shorty
Today we have negative temps and frozen drainage from all the snow plowed into the storm drain yesterday and that's completely frozen solid--not sure what to do about that...Plumber Bill (hopefully) to the rescue...yikes!!

Keep warm, drive safe, have a great weekend!

January 2, 2014

It feels a lot like last year's blizzard looking out the windows this morning and the snow's still coming down crazy hard. The car and front step are all but buried. Tucker was the only one to venture off the back patio into the yard. Pea and Boo barely dared a few feet to potty then right back in to warmth and cookies. I myself am thrilled--the snow drifts are so beautiful and pristine, clumped high on bushes, branches, fence posts. Smoke swirling lazy from chimneys. Everyone else will grump about the cold, the wind, the traffic...But this I love so much--I'm a winter girl, I need my snow, all this white, all this cold makes everything inside me sing. Happy happy happy, as Phil would say.

Yesterday morning, snow just beginning

Our pretty little house

Back to school for Bug--school was already closed for Friday
My car and front step this morning

Snow up on the kitchen window

Snuggly Boo--she has the right idea: a blanket and a nap...of course, that's pretty much her life philosophy these days...

So, off to start shoveling in a little bit here--at least to try and make a dent in things. Cocoa, couch, and a continuation of the Walking Dead marathon for the remainder of the day--who knew I'd get into such a show?! Who knew it would make me cry??? I thought I'd maybe persist through an episode or two before giving up in disgust. I'm almost at the end of the second season now and can't stop watching--or caring what happens to these people...Crazy! Happy Snow Day everyone!!
